About SpiralCraft Jewellery Welcome to Spiralcraft JewellerySpiral Craft Jewellery is run by me Natalia Bianco. I make jewellery at home in my studio in Cardiff, Wales.
Ever since I can remember I have always been making and creating.
I have always loved jewellery and have always been keen to find something different from the normal mass produced pieces often found on the high street. Originally I started out painting and drawing and graduated with a fine art degree in 2005 where I specialized in painting. After leaving university whilst working as an artist I started experimenting with other materials and quickly discovered jewellery making.
I am mostly a self taught designer and maker and have developed a love of using wire to create unusual art pieces of jewellery.
The large majority of my designs are unique, and one of a kind which means that if you purchase a piece of jewellery from me you will be sure that nobody else will be wearing the same item as you. I always create pieces that I would wear, I love the feeling of someone wearing something that I had designed and created myself, it makes the process all very worthwhile!
All of my pieces are handmade and designed by me using simple hand tools and quality materials. I often make my own components, such as ear wires, clasps & chains out of copper or silver wire and sheet. I like to experiment with many techniques such as forging, soldering, stamping and texturing. My main love is wire wrapping and many of the pieces you will see on my website are made using this technique.
My designs usually start from an idea in my head which I then start sketching out, The jewellery piece usually evolves from the sketch that I made but sometimes it just develops on its own. I am obsessed with anything that is rustic, woodsy, and whimsical. I am inspired by natural and organic shapes and often prefer asymmetry over symmetry. I incorporate these passions of mine into my designs, to create beautiful and unusual jewellery.
My favourite materials are copper, sterling silver, semi precious stones, and quality glass and ceramic beads. I'm in love with natural stones and beads. Favourite stones of mine are Labradorite and Spectrolite as they both have amazing blue or yellow flashes when they catch the light. I also love bright colours and recently my jewellery has been getting more and more colourful as I have been using silver more often in my designs. However I still love to work with blue and green stones as I find these complement the brown/golden tones of copper very well.
